In business, choosing something simply because it is free can become an expensive mistake. If it creates problems, requires constant attention, or provides no reliable support, we may eventually pay far more than we expected.
Paying a reasonable price can sometimes give us greater value, clearer expectations, and fewer complications.
Of course, generosity exists. Not every gift comes with strings attached. This saying simply reminds us to look beyond the immediate benefit and understand what we are accepting.
The English expression “There’s no such thing as a free lunch” carries a similar message.
Before accepting something free, ask yourself: “What will this actually cost me?”
