二度あることは三度ある What Happens Twice...

二度あることは三度ある
What Happens Twice May Happen Again

There is a Japanese proverb:

二度あることは三度ある
Nido aru koto wa sando aru.

Literally, it means, “What happens twice will happen a third time.”

Everyone makes mistakes. One mistake may be an accident, a misunderstanding, or simply bad judgment. We should not judge someone forever because of one failure.

But when the same thing happens twice, we should pay attention.

This is especially true in business and relationships. A broken promise, dishonesty, betrayal, or failure to take responsibility may no longer be an isolated incident when it happens again. It may be a pattern.

Forgiving someone does not mean that you must forget what happened. And forgiveness does not automatically mean restoring the same level of trust.

Japanese wisdom reminds us to watch actions, not just words.

Once may be a mistake.
Twice may be a pattern.
The third time, you should not be surprised.
